Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been used for the treatment of recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and diseases beyond CDI, such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, hepatic encephalopathy, and other dysbiosis related diseases. The latest progress on FMT mainly involves washed microbiota transplantation, newly developed delivery of microbiota, emerging clinical benefits and the adverse events of microbiota transplantation. However, the regulation and clinical application of FMT varies among different countries. Therefore, it is very important to focus on the frontlines of FMT.

In this special issue titled, “Safety, methodology and pilot studies in microbiota transplantation”, submission of original papers, case reports, review articles, or opinions concerning the topics mentioned above, and related fields, are welcomed. All accepted articles will be published ahead of time.
